Working bees 2022

Dear friends of Cana,

Thank you for your on-going support of our beautiful piece of heaven on earth at Aldinga Beach. The first working bee for 2022 is this coming Sunday 22nd May.

For anyone new, working bees generally run from 9-12.30pm (with morning tea and lunch provided), though I aim to get there at 8.30am. We have basic tools and equipment, but if you can bring any that you might need for a particular job, that’d be great. All ages and skill levels welcomed.

At this first working bee, ideas for things to focus on –

– audit of cottages after summer onslaught (reshuffle crockery and cutlery that has been jumbled between)

– ceiling in cottage 1 – repaint area above front window

– add a few new bedroom cupboards (I’ll bring)

– whipper snippering

– entry door seals (new ones in shed)

– couple of window screens to fix

– back screen door of cottage 3 damaged

– expanding foam for several fascia rain/bird entry points

– paving stones from driveway to back door of cottage 4

– add mouse bait under cottages

– remove old bbq behind cottage 1, replace with new second hand one (I’ll bring it)

You volunteers are champions, acting out the greatest commandment ‘To love one another’, paying it forward to others to enjoy (and us, too, we hope).

Hope to see you there.

Working bee dates 2022

At the AGM we settled on several dates for working bees over the year, to help us maintain the cottages in good (hopefully improved) order. Those dates – 2 July, 7 August, 22 October, 27 November. Please lock them in and come and help, and have fun and get your does of sea air at the same time!

One final thing – we’re still taking orders for our front lawn fundraising tiles. Your chance to etch your name in the Cana Cottages sunset, and help us pay for the new driveway. $150 – orders closing on May 31, 2022. Click here for full details or email bookings@canacottages.com.
